History of the McMahon Foundation

For more than 80 years, the McMahon Foundation has played a quiet but transformative role in shaping Southwestern Oklahoma. Its impact is tangible—seen in schools, community spaces, and essential services that support daily life across the region.

Founded in 1940 by Eugene D. McMahon and his mother, Louise McMahon, the Foundation was built on a simple principle: invest locally and for the long term. That approach continues to guide its work today.

Over the decades, the Foundation has contributed more than $100 million to projects that strengthen community infrastructure and expand opportunity. From major investments in Cameron University—including establishing the McMahon School of Business—to critical support for K–12 systems, nonprofits, and community services, its funding focuses on lasting impact rather than short-term visibility.

Today, the McMahon Foundation remains a steady and disciplined partner in the region—supporting organizations, strengthening systems, and helping ensure that Southwestern Oklahoma continues to grow, adapt, and thrive for generations to come.
